Since moving to the opposite end of the world (quite literally – I’m pretty sure New Zealand is the polar opposite of Spain in the globe – at least that’s what a professor told me in class here), I can’t lie I have been a bit home sick from time to time. It’s hard to talk to my friend because of the massive time difference so when I heard that a good friend of mine (Luke) was going to visit me in Madrid, I was over the moon.

At the start of December, Luke arrived and spent a whole week with me in Madrid. I met Luke back in my University days in New Zealand – we both played football for the Uni team. And because he’s a huge football and Real Madrid fan, it was so awesome to tell him about all the crazy stuff we got up to in the course and to show him around the city where his favourite team is from.

What was even better was seeing a friend from New Zealand get really close with my course friends here. Oliver, my flat mate, and Luke really bonded (as you can see in the image above) and we ended up playing padel, going to karaoke, going on a night out, playing FIFA and even watching a Real Madrid game together.

Thank you to Luke for coming – I feel refreshed now and ready to take on the second half of the year!
