“Casa” is “home” in Spanish.

One of the very first things I did after arriving was going to a Real Madrid game – as you saw in my previous blog. But after I started to settle in, I can safely say that I am very excited to call my apartment and my new flatmates home.

I moved into a 3 bedroom apartment with 2 other students from the same Masters program – Armando and Oliver. And since minute one, we got along really well. On Halloween, we celebrated it all together and after thinking for days about what we should dress up as, we came to conclusion that because we were a trio, the Hangover trio would be perfect (and as you can see, we dressed up properly – I even put on face makeup!)

The Salamanca neighbourhood I live in.

My house is located in Salamanca and when I was looking into where to live, I had no idea about any neighbourhood. But man am I happy I picked Salamanca. It’s such a peaceful and quiet neighbourhood but it has everything you want – supermarkets, restaurants (there’s a taco bell on our street!) and it’s only a 15 minute walk to the Movistar arena where Real Madrid plays basketball and a 13 minute walk to Goya – a central part of downtown Madrid.

I can’t wait to keep you posted on how my year goes in Salamanca, Madrid – my nueva casa.
